Music is an echo of human experience.
Throughout this programme we relive the simple beauties of earth coming into existence. Inspired by the art of beauty in simplicity throughout the centuries, we bring you a programme filled with music echoing time. In Grieg’s unfinished 2nd String Quartet (1891) we find rhythm, symbolising the vitality of humankind, and hints to Scandinavian folk music, creating imaginative landscapes through sunshine, rain and snow. We move on to the invisible and ungraspable of life, peacefulness and endings with 'Da pacem Domine' by Arvo Pärt (2004) and an ode to love in Webern’s 'Langsamer Satz' (1905). In the old Pärt’s work, we’re guided through the fragility of life through an absolutely touching Gregorian chant, a work written to commemorate the victims of the 2004 Madrid train bombings. In the young Webern’s 'Langsamer Satz', we return to nature, as Webern himself described this quartet as an ode to nature and his carefree life with his beloved. The idea for the work came about during a walk with his future wife.

As interludes between these works, we present a selection  out of 'Woodworks' (published in 2015) by the Danish String Quartet and  'Sonnets et Rondeaux' (published in 2007) by Giovanni Sollima. Celebrating simpler times in this programme by incorporating folk music inspired pieces, representing connection between people, sharing music and sharing joy.

Let’s together ride on the waves of the echoes of time!
