About the event
Welcome to a Creative Workshop at the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum in Tromsø on 8 February.
Sisti is the North Sámi word for tanned hide without hair. The hide is processed in a way that makes it both durable and hard-wearing, and it is a central material in soft duodji (traditional Sámi handicraft).
On Sunday, 8 February—the final day of Sámi Week—we invite you to a creative workshop at the museum. Here you can make your own sistisnor (sisti cord): a leather cord traditionally used as a shoulder strap for bags, as ties on Sámi belts and coffee pouches, but which can also be turned into beautiful bracelets or other decorative items.
The workshop is open from 1:00–3:00 pm and is suitable for older children, teenagers, and adults.
