About the exhibition

In The sea rocks, the sky whispers, you are invited into Persen’s powerful visual world, where abstraction, poetry, and northern landscapes are interwoven. Colours, lines, and words reflect both the rhythms of nature and a deep commitment to freedom, belonging, and care for the landscape.

Synnøve Persen (b. 1950) grew up by the Porsanger Fjord in a Sea Sámi family. Nature, the seasons, and the Arctic light have accompanied her throughout her artistic career, and abstract painting has become her language for the boundless and the liberating.

Curator: Lise Dahl, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum
Exhibition design: Joar Nango and Marc&Stella AS
