WE OPEN THE DOORS TO GIRJEGUMPI ON 19 MARCH
Joar Nango’s travelling library Girjegumpi is moving into the Northern Norwegian Art Museum in Tromsø for the next five years. This nomadic library dedicated to Sámi architecture, initiated by Nango in 2018, has journeyed across Sápmi and to museums and exhibitions around the world. Along the way, its collection has grown to nearly 800 titles, spanning Sámi architecture, art, Indigenous practices, ecology, politics, and activism. Now, Girjegumpi will have a temporary home in Tromsø – as an open space for conversation, knowledge sharing, and encounters between people. Photo: Joar Nango installing Girjegumpi in Tromsø.
