Lecture #1: Steinar Aas // Everything Talks - stories in motion

We'll start with an introduction and then move on to a conversation with a moderator where we want the audience to participate in the conversation.
How has Northern Norway been seen and portrayed through the ages? How have art, literature and visual expressions helped shape our understanding of Northern Norway and how have Sami culture, coastal culture and the region's diversity been overlooked in the national narrative? Historically, Northern Norway has been seen as a peripheral part of the country. The cultural and geographical variation, such as Sami culture, coastal culture and the region's diversity have been overlooked in the national narrative.
Through conversations, we want to challenge this one-sided perception by shedding light on the region's diversity. The aim is to promote reflection and discussion on how we can recognise and respect the stories and perspectives that have previously been overlooked.
The opening exhibition with the same title examines the complexity of our societies and endeavours to uncover lesser known and situated stories in Northern Norway and the Sapmi region.
Venue: In the exhibition and in Festsalen at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, Storgata 40, Bodø.
Entrance ticket to the museum also gives access to this event. The conversation will take place in Norwegian.
