About the event
Experience Schumann’s song cycle Dichterliebe in Lule Samí with mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico and the Arctic Philharmonic. The concert will take place in the exhibition hall of the Northern Norwegian Art Museum, surrounded by the magnificent and atmospheric exhibition of paintings by Adelsteen Normann.

We will celebrate the Samí National Day at the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, with both a classical masterpiece, and brand-new music inspired by Samí traditions. In the first part of the concert, we will hear three works from our “open call” – a project promoting classical music with roots from the Samí and Kven traditions. Moderator and artistic adviser Andreas Gundersen will give us an insight in how these works have been created.

The second part of the concert will be filled with a romantic masterpiece, Schumann’s Dichterliebe. Adrian Angelico will be singing the work in Lule Samí, in a re-arranged version by Eivind Buene. Buene has won the Norwegian Grammy Award, Edvard-prisen and Musikkforleggerprisen for his work as a composer. He has written music for many Norwegian and international ensembles.
