Saturday, 9 May 2026
Opening: 2:00 PM
Artist Talk: 3:00 PM

On Saturday, 9 May, Kväänibiennaali 2025 opens in Longyearbyen. The opening will be officiated by Eystein Markusson, Director of the Svalbard Museum. Following the opening, there will be a conversation between the curator and the participating artists.

"Työ / Work" is developed by Kväänitaitajat – the Kven Artists’ Association, in collaboration with the North Norwegian Art Museum, and marks the third edition of Kväänibiennaali. Since 2021, the biennial has served as a key platform for the exploration of contemporary Kven art.

In Longyearbyen, "Työ / Work" is presented in an expanded version, bringing together works by several artists with Kven affiliations in a new geographical and cultural context: Markus Lantto, Ingebjørg Vatne, Inger Emilie Solheim, Solveig Ovanger, Kåre Kivijärvi, Rina Charlott Lindgren, and Eili Bråstad.

An artist talk moderated by curator Maija Liisa Björklund will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, 9 May.
The conversation will be held in Norwegian.
