About the event
What small stories can be created when we join different fabrics together with simple stitches? We will create our own unique expressions, inspired by Britta Marakatt-Labba’s work “Historjá” and the artist’s use of various textiles in combination with embroidery.

In the museum café, you will find a rich selection of transparent and dense fabrics, both with and without patterns, which you can use to build your story.

The workshop is free and drop-in from 13:00 to 15:00. Introduction in the exhibition from 13:00 to 13:15. Participants of all ages can create—each according to their own abilities. Welcome!

Britta Marakatt-Labba

Historjá

For half a century, Britta Marakatt-Labba (b. 1951 in Idivuoma, Sápmi) has been one of Sápmi’s most prominent artists. Using needle and thread, she creates a rich and varied visual universe. Through countless small stitches, Marakatt-Labba depicts motifs from Sámi history, religion and everyday life, seen from an Indigenous perspective and inspired by her upbringing in a reindeer-herding family.
