In February 2025, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum opened a new branch in Bodø – right in the heart of the city, in the historic Sparebank building from 1949 at Storgata 40. With this, we are strengthening our presence in Northern Norway, alongside our established venues in Tromsø and Longyearbyen.

We want to be an inclusive and accessible art museum for everyone, showcasing both historical and contemporary art that engages and inspires.

In addition to the exhibition hall, the museum also has a shop, a café, and a banquet hall used for lectures, artist talks, and workshops. The banquet hall can also be rented for various events.

On October 4th, we opened the doors to a grand exhibition that breathes new life into one of Northern Norway’s most significant artists! Adelsteen Normann (1848–1918) was a pioneer of Norwegian landscape painting and a vital bridge between the dramatic nature of Northern Norway and the European art audience.

Creative workshop: Angels unter den Linden

Christmas is approaching! We draw inspiration from ‘Unter den Linden’ and other paintings by Adelsteen Normann and decorate small paper angels with colour prints from some of the artist's works. Join us in the exhibition and explore selected paintings before we use pliers, scissors, paper, glue and beads to make decorative angels.

Guided Tour of the Exhibition "Adelsteen Normann: The Impressionist from the North"

Welcome to a guided tour! One of our museum guide will take you on a journey through the rich artistic legacy of the Nordland-born painter Eilert Adelsteen Normann (1848–1918). Normann was one of the first professional artists from Northern Norway and played a key role in bringing the landscapes of Norway to a European audience.

Get into the Christmas spirit at the museum! Welcome to an atmospheric workshop in our beautifully decorated museum. In Adelsteen Normann's day, there was no electricity, so lighting consisted of tallow candles, wax candles, and oil lamps.

Samí National Day at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum

Experience Schumann’s song cycle Dichterliebe in Lule Samí with mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico and the Arctic Philharmonic. The concert will take place in the exhibition hall of the Northern Norwegian Art Museum, surrounded by the magnificent and atmospheric exhibition of paintings by Adelsteen Normann.
