After a major transformation of the venerable Sparebank building from 1949 at Storgata 40, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum can finally open its doors to the public. 

Right in the heart of the city, we are an inclusive art museum and contribute to increasing the accessibility of both historical and contemporary art. Now the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum is finally clearly present with its own arena in Bodø in addition to Tromsø and Longyearbyen. 

Adjacent to the reception on the ground floor, you will also find our museum shop and Kafé Adelsteen – a cozy meeting place for art and coffee lovers alike.

Everything is Speaking – Stories in Motion

Nordnorsk Kuntmuseum welcomes you to the new museum department in Bodø/Bådåddjo with the exhibition “Everything is Speaking – Stories in Motion”. The exhibition shows a selection of artworks from the museum’s collection from the 19th century to the present day, by artists with northern Norwegian, Sámi, Norwegian and international backgrounds.

We are pleased to invite you to experience our exhibition, “Everything Speaks – Stories in Motion,” that runs until August 31. We offer daily a guided tour in English in the exhibition, providing insightful commentary and context.  On Fridays, guests can take part in a lecture focusing on Sámi art in our Conferance Hall, also conducted in English.

I dette foredraget går vi i dybden på maleriet "Kamp med isbjørner" – av François-Auguste Biard. Kim Skytte som er samlingsansvarlig i Nordnorsk kunstmuseum har interessert seg særlig for dette maleriet, men også Biards liv, reisevirksomhet og øvrig kunstproduksjon, og han har studert et omfattende materiale knyttet til kunstneren og hans samtid.
