Living in the Circumpolar North gives us a view of interconnectivity with people across the pole. Northern Norway Art Museum and Anchorage Museum have invited curators and artists from Anchorage and Tromsø for a dialogue about art in the North. Artists are adept at conveying the complexity of place and people and opening up spaces where conversations occur.

We will explore questions like:

·      How is art an expressive force in the Arctic?

·      Is the Arctic an element in the artist’s expressions and focus?

·      Is the Arctic/North a nation state identity, or do we have a shared
       understanding of the Arctic/North across borders?

·      Where do the stories come from in art from the Arctic?

·      How does the experience with place influence artists’ work?

·      Does art in the North have a political function today?
