Alf Salo was born in Kåfjord in 1959, and passed away in February 2013, 53 years old. Salo is primarily recognized as an abstract painter. With the use of intense colors, often in hues of yellow and red, Salo created images containing both geometric and organic shapes. His paintings do not represent actual landscapes, but emphasizes light-effects. The exhibition Alf Salo (1959–2013): Solar Symbols was shown at The Art Museum of Northern Norway this summer as an homage to the artist.
