Still Life in Motion explores themes of mortality and beauty. It also demonstrates how still life painting from the 17th century has inspired artists of today. Lifting the subject matter to a new level, by using modern technologies such as film and photography, contemporary artists have added motion to the traditional still objects. What was once considered a low status genre in the History of Art, still life today is both celebrated and far from static.

The exhibition showcases works by the following Norwegian and international artists: Cornelis van Lelienbergh (c. 1626 – c. 1676), Anton Friedrich Harms (1695–1745), Frants Bøe (1820–1891), Sam Taylor-Wood (b. 1967), Ori Gersht (b. 1967), Krista van der Niet (b. 1978), Ann Kristin Einarsen (b. 1981), Morten Viskum (b. 1965), Per Barclay (b. 1955) og Per Christian Brown (b. 1976).

The exhibition is a part of the Tromsø International Filmfestival (TIFF).
